Tondo Table at Design Week Vienna

A sensory fusion of design, cuisine, and sustainability.

Vienna Design Week 2024 has come to an end, and we look back with great gratitude on a week full of inspiring encounters and overwhelming interest in Feral Feast and our TONDO Table. It was a pleasure to present our vision and craftsmanship to a design-enthusiastic audience.

The TONDO Table was at the heart of a special convergence of culinary art, sustainable design, and biodynamic winemaking – an experience that engaged all the senses. Our 10-meter-long table, designed together with Felix Pöttinger for Sit, feast on your life at Milan Design Week, provided a space for tasting, exchanging ideas, and exploring biodiversity and resource-conscious practices.

Creative Fusion of Culinary Arts and Design

We were treated to extraordinary dishes, such as the „Herbarium Blobs,“ which beautifully embodied the connection between nature and experimental cuisine. Quark dumplings, refined with plantain, were harmoniously paired with a fresh apple-pear chutney and an intense, fermented pinecone syrup. Wildflowers added a final touch, bringing the flavors of nature directly onto the plate. These dishes not only reflected our love for natural materials but also the philosophy of sustainable cuisine.

A special thanks goes to Liza Sočan, an exceptional food and cake designer, Gaja Pegan Nahtigal, a transdisciplinary designer and forager, and Hanna Gassner, curator and producer from a biodynamic winery. Their creative approaches and dedication were essential to the success of this unique event. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Vienna Design team – working together was an absolute pleasure!

With carefully selected pieces from local designers like Ana Mikadze, Alice Klarwein, Felix Schwentner, Hannah Seifert, Ifu Egbonu, Isabelle Orsini Rosenberg, Ju Aichinger, Julia Schwarz, Nina Kammerer, Rita Schneeberger & Lara Friesz, Simaen Studio, Studio Terrible, Teresa Berger, and Zoedeno, we curated a setting that highlighted the connection between culinary art and design. Together, we explored new ways to enrich the senses in unexpected ways.

The overwhelming turnout and positive response to our contribution at Vienna Design Week deeply moved us. The visitors’ enthusiasm reinforces our commitment to continue celebrating the connection between craftsmanship, design, and nature.
