In July of each year, our apprentices – Leah Stefan, Felix Strauss, Fabian Bauer and Matthias Miersch this year – present their apprenticeship projects. We are grateful not only for the new graduates of the apprenticeship, but also for the active support of their colleagues in the company and their families at home. It was a demanding time for the apprentices, but the results were worth all the effort.
While Leah made TV furniture, Felix designed a guitar cabinet and Fabian submitted a desk. Matthias carpentered a bar cabinet and was named the winner of the trade guild for the districts of Miesbach and Bad Tölz. He stood out from the 45 participants in the apprentice exam – and impressed the jury in both theory and practice.
You get a sense of how proud Matthias is of his final project when he talks about it: „The cabinet is a solid wood construction made of ash wood. No single part is interchangeable here. Every joint is matched to the other.“ The frame also merits a special mention. Filigree and harmonious, it stands out from the body, showing the abstracted silhouette of a mountain profile. Speaking of mountains – before the apprentice takes on new challenges in our company, we are giving Matthias a well-deserved break. As a small gift, we treated him to a weekend in South Tyrol.
