A wonderful place for hospitality, food and socializing was developed in Gmund over the last six months in collaboration with a team of close friends: the Blyb. We were able to be part of the project and to lend our support by providing our expertise in interior design.
Together with the Blyb team and thanks to a special selection of materials and a lot of love for the pre-existing structures, we created a unique design that does this place justice — down to the last detail.

The basis on which we started the planning was to use what already exists and to emphasize it selectively. Our scope of work included furniture for the reception area, lounge bar, restaurant and library. We set out with the challenge of creating a unique and inviting bar that would fit seamlessly into the existing building. As a form-giving element for the bar, we used the existing distinctive round arch and translated it into fronts of the counter. The material and color selection of deeply brushed dark oak in combination with the plain green of the library walls carries consistently through the furniture design. A solid, hot-rolled stainless steel plate on the counter adds a special twist to the entire bar.
What makes the materials used so special is that it meets the hotel team’s desire to work largely with existing structures. As a result, we used mostly surplus material from past EHAM projects for the furniture design in the Blyb. This way, this material found the best use you could wish for: upcycling turned it into stylish furniture.
Over the course of the project, our team also worked on the comfortable benches — made of light, soaped fir, they create a positive and fresh atmosphere. Local wood was used here, which connects the furniture even closer to the place where hotel guests can enjoy an idyllic space.
We also extensively refinished many of the floors, restoring the simple beauty of the wooden floors. Over the past years and previous owners, many different layers had been glued, nailed and cast onto the beautiful existing floor. These layers were removed through intensive manual labor — and it was worth it.
It was a pleasure to realize such a special project together with the team. A very special place was created here, which preserves the existing structures yet is still progressively modern. We believe that the Blyb is and will continue to be a great addition to the gastronomy and hotel sector around Lake Tegernsee for a long time to come.
