Skilled craftsmanship is becoming more and more valuable. After all, we can feel the history tied to the heritage of human tradition in a handmade product. At the same time, more and more people are relying on new technologies and slowly moving away from the traditional craftsmanship that should be preserved and passed down through generations. That’s why we asked our new apprentices, Christian Dietl, Justin Schieritz and Tim Quade, what their dreams of becoming carpenters are all about. Here’s some of that conversation.
Tell us briefly what kind of dream you have.
J: „Being able to work on my own house by myself. Really.“
T: „For me, it’s about being able to support myself by doing this.“
C. „I like the warmth of wood as a material; and each evening you can see what you’ve accomplished.“
What helps you fulfill that dream here at Eham?
J: „At Eham, we work a lot with solid wood. And we stay close that material — not like in yacht building, for example.
C. „It’s a bigger operation. You get to know a lot of different machines.“
T: „We are given versatile lessons and a lot of experience is passed on.“
The „Team Campus“ was launched in 2018 — here, each apprentice independently tackles projects and is given step-by-step training to prepare them for the journeyman’s examination. This not only allows them to experiment with different woods and the latest technologies, but our apprentices also get to directly see what their handiwork will look like in the customer’s banking room. Because for us, tradition and constant development go hand in hand in making our customers‘ dreams come true.
We welcome Tim, Christian and Justin to the Eham team — we are proud to be part of their dream.
