B Corp is a prestigious certification in the field of holistic sustainability. Over an extended process, we voluntarily assessed how well we perform as a company in various areas: How much do we contribute to society? How responsibly do our suppliers operate and how engaged are we in our community? How well do we care for our customers and employees? What measures do we take to protect the environment? And how transparent is our corporate governance?
For two years, we have been part of the global B Corp Movement, actively committed to responsible business practices. In 2026, we are due for our first recertification. With the updated B Corp standards – which also reflect new EU regulations aimed at preventing greenwashing – we are committing to even greater transparency and impact. This includes clearly defined three- and five-year goals to continuously improve our environmental and social performance. Our progress and disclosures are independently verified as part of the recertification process.
As a B Corp, we are committed to combining economic success with a positive impact on society and the environment. The updated standards define key impact areas such as responsible governance, fair working conditions, human rights, diversity, climate action, and sustainable resource management. In these areas, we continuously measure and improve our impact. We are involved in a wide range of initiatives – from regular donations to local and international organizations to hands-on projects that leverage our carpentry expertise, such as building a marble run together with the elementary school in Gmund or installing seating benches at the local train station.
We also prioritize responsibility and regional sourcing in our supply chain: around 70% of our suppliers are located within a 100 km radius. Together with 31 partners, we have established a shared supplier code of conduct that defines environmental, social, and ethical standards and forms the foundation for long-term sustainable collaboration. We have taken a deeper look into our supply chain by tracing key details of material origins on a project basis – including wood origin, harvesting methods, and transport distances – with the aim of further strengthening our procurement policies. 80% of our solid wood, our largest raw material category, is sourced regionally and fully documented. Our supplier code reinforces the values within our supply chain.
In 2026, we will continue to implement our sustainability strategy through concrete initiatives. These include the development of our carbon footprint, a task force dedicated to optimizing packaging, and joint activities such as cycling campaigns and fruit tree planting initiatives. We are also planning a playground at our company site – a space for children of employees, clients, and neighbors to connect and interact.
Another important step was the establishment of our in-house recycling center, where materials such as paper, plastics, polystyrene, metal, compost, electronic waste, and glass are centrally collected and carefully separated. In 2025, we also put our greywater system into operation at our new facility and installed 10 new EV charging points. In addition, we are transitioning to water-based coatings and have converted our second production site to renewable energy.
Our company code serves as a central framework, helping us define goals and actions across all areas and continuously improve. Our employee handbook acts as a transparent reference guide for all team members.
These initiatives reflect our ambition not only to succeed as a business but also to make a meaningful contribution to our region and the environment. The B Corp certification both validates and supports us on this journey.
For those who want to learn more, here are further details: B Corp companies commit to stringent principles that promote sustainable and responsible business practices. One of the main principles is accountability; B Corps make decisions that have positive impacts on their employees, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. Another key principle is transparency. B Corps disclose how their decisions affect various stakeholders and the environment, and they regularly produce detailed reports on their social and environmental performance. The performance of B Corps is measured through the B Impact Assessment, which evaluates the overall impact of the company in various areas, ensuring they meet high social and environmental standards. Finally, the principle of continuous improvement is essential; B Corps strive to continuously improve their performance and maximize their positive impact. These principles enable B Corp companies not only to achieve financial success but also to make a significant contribution to making the world a better place.
